Refund Policy
Last updated: May 11, 2026
1. The free trial is your refund window
Every Desktopia account starts with a 30-day free trial with full functionality, including cloud sync. The trial is designed to be your opportunity to evaluate the product before paying. We strongly encourage you to use the trial period to confirm Desktopia fits your workflow before subscribing.
When the trial ends, your installation switches to read-only mode — you keep access to everything you already added, but cannot create new items or sync until you subscribe. Your data is never deleted because a trial expires.
2. General policy
All subscription fees are non-refundable except where required by law or as expressly stated in this policy. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled.
3. Discretionary refunds for new subscribers
If you subscribe to Desktopia Pro and decide it isn't right for you, you may request a full refund within:
- 14 days of your first monthly subscription charge, or
- 30 days of your first annual subscription charge.
This discretionary window applies once per customer, to your initial purchase only. We may decline requests that appear to abuse this policy (for example, repeated subscribe-and-refund cycles, or accounts that have synced unusually large volumes of data).
4. Auto-renewals are not automatically refunded
You can cancel at any time through the customer portal linked from Settings → Subscription in the desktop app, or from the account portal on this website. Cancellation stops future renewals; it does not refund the current billing period.
We send a renewal reminder email before each annual renewal. Refunds for auto-renewal charges are generally not granted — please cancel before the renewal date if you no longer want the subscription. If you were charged for a renewal and have not used the Service since the renewal date, contact us and we will review on a case-by-case basis.
5. Statutory rights (EU, UK, and other jurisdictions)
Nothing in this policy limits any non-waivable consumer rights you have under the law of your country of residence.
If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you ordinarily have a 14-day cooling-off period after purchase. However, because Desktopia provides immediate access to digital content and cloud-sync services on subscription, by subscribing you expressly consent to begin the Service immediately and acknowledge that you lose your right of withdrawal once the Service has been provided. The discretionary refund window in Section 3 is offered in addition to, and not in substitution for, your statutory rights.
6. Merchant of Record and tax
Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy (lemonsqueezy.com), which acts as the Merchant of Record for Desktopia. Refunds are issued through Lemon Squeezy back to the original payment method, typically within 5–10 business days. Sales tax, VAT, or GST collected by Lemon Squeezy is refunded together with the subscription fee.
7. How to request a refund
Email support@desktopia.app from the email address on your Desktopia account, including:
- The email on your account
- The approximate date of the charge
- A brief reason (optional, but it helps us improve)
We aim to respond within 2 business days.
8. Chargebacks
If you initiate a chargeback or payment dispute with your bank or card issuer instead of contacting us first, we may suspend or terminate your account pending the outcome. We're a small team and happy to resolve issues directly — please email us before disputing a charge.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced on this page. The discretionary terms in Section 3 apply as written on the date of your purchase.
